Circling the valley of the Melamchi Khola, just75 km north of Kathmandu, the area is surprisingly peaceful and calm. The landscape in classic Himalayan foothills, with plenty of dramatic rises and plummeting descents, but there are no overbooked fights to worry about. At the end of the trek, you can just hop on the bus or jump into a taxi. Despite the proximity of Kathmandu, the trails are blissfully quiet, particularly compared to the more famous trekking routes around Everest and Annapurna. In just one week, you can loop around from Sundarijal to Thimbu or kill, passing mountains views points, alpine meadows, and Buddhist villages it’s a good taster trek if you are unsure about trekking higher up in the Himalayan. Alternatively, you can trek onto the end of the Langtang or Gosainkund treks, crossing Helambu, via the high altitude passes at Laurebina La (4610m)or Ganja La (5106m). However, both routes involve steep gains in altitude, particularly if you start from. AMS is a serious risk and the passes are snow covered and dangerous in winter.
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani.
Day 02: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang.
Day 03: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati.
Day 04: Trek from Tharepati to Tarkeghyang.
Day 05: Trek from Tarkeghyang to Talamarang.
Day 06: Trek from Talamarang to Melamchi pool bazar (approx. 2 hr) and same day drive back to Kathmandu by private vehicle.
Day 07: International departure or go for the onward program.
