                      Nepal is the home to Nepalese people where different human races and religion are  found with its unique culture and tradition. Various types of religion are found over here i.e Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and many more. Among them Nepal is regarded as Hindu Kingdom. It is because large number of population is believed as the followers of Hindusm. All culture is unique in its norms and values.

Geography

               Nepal is a mountainous and landlocked country lying on the southern slopes of the Himalayas between India and China. Its area is 147,181 sq.km. It is 885 km east to west and 145 to 241 km north to south. Nepal is divided into three geographical regions.

Himalayan Region: The altitude of this region is above 5,000m. The region regards 8 of the existing 14 highest summits of the world crossing over an altitude of 8,000m . It occupies  35% land coverage.

Hilly Region:   This region is middle belt of Nepal. The region lies between the Himalayan and Terai region. It occupies around 64% land coverage.

Terai Region: It is the lower belt of Nepal. It is most fertile land found here in Nepal It occupies 23% of land coverage.

Climate

Nepal’s climate is influenced by increased as well as by its location in a subtropical latitude ranges from subtropical monsoon conditions in the Terai region through a hot temperature climate between 4,000 and 7,000 ft in the mid-mountain region, to cool temperate conditions in the higher parts of mountains between 7,000 and 11,000 feet, to an Alpine climate at altitudes between 14,000 and 16,000 feet along the lower slopes of the Himalaya  mountains. At Himalaya region above 16,000 ft the temperature is always below freezing and the surface covered by snow and ice due to which there is cold temperature.

Nepal has four major season

  • Winter= December-Februrary
  • Spring=March-May
  • Summer (June-August)
  • Autumn =September-November

How to get Nepal?

  • By Air: Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is the only gateway to Kathmandu for the tourists who come by air. It is situated about 4.5 miles east of the city (about 25 minutes drive). TIA is also in between all the three major cities of Kathmandu Valley, namely Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. Facilities of bank, duty free shop, restaurants and tourist information center is available at TIA.   • By Land: Those visitors who are heading toward Nepal by land then they can travel by mentioned routes Kakkarbhitta, Birgunj, Sunauli, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi, Mahendranagar on the Nepal & India border and Kodari Nepal & China border.

Season to travel:
The most popular seasons for traveling to Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and India are spring (Feb-May) and autumn (Aug-Nov). During the monsoon season (June-Aug) tours and treks are also possible depending on where you are going.

Communication: 
Private communication centers and hotels provide ISD, STD, Fax and E-mail services. The STD code for Nepal is 977. Inquiries can be made at 197.

Electricity: 
Major towns in Nepal have electricity and the voltage available is 220 volts and 50 cycles. Load shedding is sometimes experienced in Nepal. However, most of the hotels have installed their own generators.

Time:
Nepal is 5 hours 45 minutes a head of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) and approximately 12 hours and 50 minutes a head of Pacific Time.

Money and Credit Cards: 
Payment can be made in foreign exchange in hotels, travel agencies and airlines. Credit cards such as American Express, Master and Visa are widely accepted at major hotels, travel agencies, shops and restaurants.

Travel Documents: 
It is the traveler’s own responsibility to obtain passport and travel visa. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended return date.
